You sign in with your e-mail address and a password. After you sign in, you can change your password and your details on your profile page. An administrator creates your account. You cannot create one yourself.

## How to sign in

1. Open the Superwise address that your company gave you.
2. Type your e-mail address in **Email**.
3. Type your password in **Password**.
4. Select **Remember me?** if you want to stay signed in on this device. Do not select it on a shared computer.
5. Click **Log In**.

The page title is **Sign In to your account**. After you sign in, you see the [dashboard](the-dashboard.md).

## How to reset a forgotten password

1. On the sign-in page, click **Lost your password?**.
2. Type your e-mail address in **Email**.
3. Click **Reset**.
4. Open the e-mail that Superwise sends you and click the link in it.
5. On the **Reset your password** page, type the new password in **Password**. Type it again in **Confirm password**.
6. Click **Reset password**.
7. Click the **log in** link and sign in with the new password.

Superwise shows the same message for every e-mail address. It says "If the address you entered belongs to an account on this site, we have sent password reset instructions to it." The page never says whether an account exists. If no e-mail arrives after a few minutes, ask your administrator.

An old link shows **This link is not valid or has expired.** Click **Lost your password?** again to get a new link.

> **Note:** If your administrator sends you a link to a page called **Set your password**, use it the same way. Type the password twice and click **Set password**.

## How to change your password

You need to know your current password. If you do not know it, use the reset steps above.

1. Click your initial at the top right of the screen. This opens the account menu.
2. Click **Profile**.
3. Click **Change Password**.
4. In the **Change Password** box, type your password in **Current password** (the first box in the picture).
5. Type the new password in **New password** (the second box).
6. Type it again in **Confirm new password** (the third box).

The new password must have at least 6 characters. It must include 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and 1 special character. A special character is a sign such as `@`, `#` or `!`.

## How to change your profile

1. Click your initial at the top right, then click **Profile**.
2. Click the small pencil icon at the top right of your profile card. It is marked 1 in the first picture below.
3. Change **Name** or **Phone Number**. Both are required.
4. Add a **Profile Photo** or a **Sign** picture if you want. **Sign** is the picture of your signature.
5. Use the **Unsubscribe E-mails** switch to stop or start e-mails from Superwise.
6. Click **Save** (mark 1 in the second picture). Click **Cancel** (mark 2) to leave without changes.

Your e-mail address is shown but you cannot change it here. Ask your administrator to change it.

The button **Edit Profile** (mark 2) opens the full user form that administrators use. It has more fields, such as **Roles**. Use the pencil icon to change your own details.

![The profile in edit mode. Mark 1 is the Save button and mark 2 is the Cancel button.](../media/user-profile-edit.png)

The profile page shows your name, e-mail address, phone number and roles. A tick next to **Subscribed to Email** means you receive e-mails. The tab **Projects** lists the projects you belong to and the people in each. The tab **Departments** lists your departments.

The pages **Manage Account** and **Change Password** open this same profile page. The page **Change Password** opens the password box at once.

## How to sign out

1. Click your initial at the top right.
2. Click **Sign out**, marked 2 in the picture below.

The same menu has a **Theme** choice: **Light**, **Dark** or **System**. **System** follows your computer setting. The item **Reset page** clears the table layouts, theme, menu pin and recent projects that Superwise saved on this device, and reloads the page.
